SCENE 01 / GRIP EQUIPMENT SERVICES

Grip Services

Professional grip crews and equipment for camera and lighting support across Korea.

Scroll

Here is how this works in practice. Grip kit services give the mechanical support hardware and rigging that shapes light and positions cameras on set. In South Korea, grip teams work at CJ ENM Studios and KOFIC Namyangju Studios in Seoul, using specialized rigging for both feature films and the high-output K-drama shoot schedules.

Here is the short of it. We source grip kit and skilled grip crews who know the fast pace of Korean production culture. With packages ready from Seoul-based rental houses, our team sets up gear with your key grip's specs, making sure all hardware meets Korean production safety standards.

Korean key grips and camera-support gear, end to end

Here is how this works in practice. Grip work in Korea has its own working culture, shaped by the speed of K-drama production at The DMC hub and the camera-move ambition of CJ ENM features and Studio Dragon series. Our key grips lead teams that range from a tight three-person crew on commercials to full grip teams for feature shoots on stage at Paju Studio Cube and Namyangju Studio Tricky.

Here is the short of it. Gear packages are sourced through NAC Image, KW Studio and Hello Pictures Korea. Korean dolly tracks (Egripment Skater, Magnum, JL Fisher 10/11 where ready), Chapman cranes and jib arms for classic camera moves, Movi Pro and DJI Ronin 4D sleds for handheld stabilised work. Hot Gears and Black Arm process-trailer rigs for car-mount and car photography across Korean highways and the Han River bridges.

Here is the breakdown. Beyond camera support, grip teams shape light. C-stands, butterflies, overhead frames, silks and bounce, neg-fill and flag work are built around the gaffer's lighting design. Mostly against an ARRI SkyPanel, HMI and Aputure 600x package — with overhead truss and grid systems for stage installations and greenscreen rigs. Rigging crews hold the fitting KOSHA-aligned safety certifications for overhead work.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Tech scouts have load planning, anchor points and access logistics for Korean locations from Bukchon hanok streets to remote Jeju coastal shoots. Crews are fully insured under Korean production liability and routinely working on K-content cash rebates-eligible shoots, setting up with electric, camera and SFX teams to keep both daylight and night-exterior shoots running on schedule.

FAQ

Our Grip Network

What does a grip department do?

Here is the breakdown. The grip department supports both camera and lighting. They operate dollies, cranes, and camera support gear for camera moves. They also handle all non-electrical lighting support: stands, rigging, diffusion frames, flags, and bounce/negative fill.

What positions are in a grip department?

Key Grip leads the department and works closely with the gaffer and DP. Best Boy Grip manages gear and logistics. Dolly Grip operates camera dollies. Company Grips handle general grip work. Rigging Grips focus on pre-rigging and construction.

When do I need a grip vs. an electrician?

Electricians handle anything electrical—lights, power distribution, cables. Grips handle physical support and rigging—stands, camera movement gear, flags, diffusion frames. The gaffer supervises electrics. The key grip supervises grip.

What equipment is included in grip packages?

Grip packages mostly have C-stands, flags, nets, silks, bounce boards, apple boxes, sandbags, clamps, and basic rigging. Dollies, cranes, and specialty gear are mostly extra items quoted separately.

Do your grips have rigging certifications?

Yes. Our rigging grips hold appropriate certifications for overhead work, truss systems, and safety rigging. Complex rigging work is supervised by certified rigging supervisors meeting industry safety needs.

Can you provide grip trucks with equipment?

We set up complete grip truck packages through our rental partners. These have the truck, driver, and full grip kit. Crew is booked separately based on your production's needs.

Productions in South Korea that need this often pair it with Portable Power Solutions, Gaffer & Lighting Services, and LED Lighting Systems for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Lighting & Grip and Green Screen Filming.
