SCENE 01 / POWER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS

Power Distribution Systems

Safe, reliable on-set power for film and TV production in Korea.

Scroll

Power distribution systems route current safely from generators or mains sources to the lighting, camera, and production gear on a set. Pro distro boxes, cable runs, and breaker panels keep loads balanced and grounding sound. That way each department gets safe power.

We supply power distribution systems tuned to your production's electrical needs and set layout. Our team works with your gaffer and best boy at each location. Together they put the right capacity, cable lengths, and safety gear in place on schedule.

On Location

Compliant power distribution across Korean locations

Power distribution on a Korean set has to square two realities. The KEPCO grid runs 220V at 60Hz with trusted mains capacity in built-up districts like Gangnam, Yeouido and central Busan. Shoots at Joseon palaces, Buddhist temple complexes and remote coastal sites along the East Sea coast are a different story. They often need full generator support and careful planning with venue and preservation authorities.

Our distribution packages cover main distro boxes, sub-distribution units, lunchboxes, stage-pin systems and the adapters that bridge Korean and global gear standards. Licensed Korean electricians size feeders, balance phases and document each tie-in. The gaffer's load plan then carries safely into the panel layout the AD teams expects.

Generator capacity scales widely. A 20kVA portable unit suits a single-camera commercial in Hongdae, while a 500kVA tow plant can sit by a feature unit's lighting truck on the edge of a Seoraksan exterior. Super-silent and battery-hybrid options cover sound-sensitive dialogue work, such as hanok interior shoots in Bukchon where ambient noise has to stay below conversational level.

Imported lighting changes the distribution picture. Fixtures arriving on an ATA Carnet may expect different voltages or plug standards, so our rental desk supplies step transformers and matched feeders ahead of the build. Stage-pin, Powerlock, and Euro adapters bridge the gear, and we confirm draw figures for every head before load-in. This keeps a foreign gaffer's package safely fed from Korean mains or our gensets without improvised connections on set.

Cable runs get ramped for crew safety on the pedestrianised streets of Insadong and Samcheong-dong. Each package ships with RCD protection, full PAT-tested distribution and the safety records that MOLIT and KOSHA expect for permitted shoots. Our crews stay on call to manage fuel logistics and reroute cable around late location additions. If a primary genset faults, they swap in a backup unit the same shooting day.

Pricing is quoted in Korean Won with 10% VAT itemised on every line. Daily and run-of-show rates cover the distribution package, while transformers, feeder lengths, electrician time and fuel are costed transparently up front. Production insurance is required and can be arranged through us or your own broker. For qualifying foreign productions, we format power records to support KOFIC incentive and cash rebate claims, keeping electrical spend documented from prep through wrap.

FAQ

Power Distribution Expertise

What generator sizes do you provide?

We supply generators from 20kVA to 500kVA, including super-silent units for sound-sensitive shoots. Multi-generator setups handle larger power needs. Battery-hybrid systems and tow plant units cover many other locations.

How do you calculate power requirements?

We run careful load math across your lighting package, camera and DIT needs, video village, and every other electrical draw. The plan factors in startup loads. It also adds the right headroom for safe, steady running.

Can you provide power at historic locations?

Yes. We focus on powering shoots at South Korea's historic locations, from palaces and temples to churches and covered sites. Our team plans around venue needs and runs the right cabling without damage. Every job meets preservation guidelines.

Do you handle tie-ins to venue power?

We arrange tie-ins to venue electrical systems where it suits, working with licensed Korean electricians and venue tech staff. Our crew checks how much power is ready and sets up short-term connections. After your shoot, we make sure the disconnection is safe.

What about power for remote locations?

For remote exteriors without mains power, we supply full generator solutions that cover fuel management, noise control, and multi-day running. Our logistics plan keeps the power flowing without a break across your shoot.

How do you ensure electrical safety on set?

All gear is PAT tested and well rated. We fit RCD protection throughout, use licensed electricians, and follow Korean electrical safety rules. Clear records and safety briefings keep the crew aware.

Productions in South Korea that need this often pair it with Power Solutions for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Grip Equipment and Portable Power Solutions.
