On Location

Full camera departments and specialist units across Korea

South Korea's visual landscape rewards skilled cinematography. The range runs from the neon-lit streets of Seoul's Hongdae district to the calm stone-paved lanes of Bukchon Hanok Village and the open coast near Busan's Haeundae. Our camera and cinematography teams come from Seoul's pro pool. They include directors of photography who have worked on Korean drama series, global co-productions, and ad campaigns. We match the right DP to each project by format, look, and schedule. Our crews travel to all sites across the country.

DP Services include full pre-production consultation and on-set technical leadership. Our DPs also plan with the post-production colorist to protect a steady look from capture through grading. For bold aerial shots over Seoul's Han River or the cliffside coast of Jeju Island, our Drone Videography teams hold valid operations certifications and manage all needed flight permits. Some projects need smooth tracking through tight spaces, whether inside Insadong's market alleys or across a studio set in the capital. There, our Steadicam and Gimbal operators deliver fluid results. Time-lapse and Hyperlapse work is also ready for building and cityscape projects across major Korean cities.

We staff the full camera department, not just the lead role. Each unit runs from the DP and camera operator down to the 1st AC pulling focus, the 2nd AC slating and logging, and a DIT managing media on set. Specialist units add a licensed drone pilot for aerials, a Steadicam or gimbal operator for movement, or a certified dive cinematographer for water work. We size the team to the brief, from a tight commercial crew to a full multi-camera drama unit.

Camera packages route through Seoul rental houses such as Hello Pictures Korea, ARRI Korea, and NAC Image Technology. Our crews shoot on ARRI Alexa 35 and Alexa Mini LF, RED V-Raptor and Komodo, and Sony Venice 2 bodies with prime and zoom sets to suit the look. Support gear covers Steadicam sleds, Movi Pro and DJI Ronin gimbals, Teradek Bolt monitoring, and dolly and crane systems. South Korea runs on 220V/60Hz mains, so most cinema gear powers up without adapters.

Filming across Korea means planning around place and rule. We secure Seoul Film Commission and Busan Film Commission permits, follow Korea Heritage Service limits at Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung palaces, and route aerial days through MOLIT. On set our crews work to KOSHA occupational safety standards for rigging, height, and power. We shoot through four sharp seasons, from Yeouido cherry blossoms in spring to Gangwon Province snow in winter, and plan dates around each window.

On delivery, our teams set an on-set colour pipeline and a show LUT so dailies match the graded look. Media is offloaded, checksummed, and backed up before any card is wiped, with shot logs and lens data attached. We hand clean originals to your DIT or post house in the format the job needs. That covers Korean broadcaster specs for KBS, MBC, SBS, and JTBC, and streamer specs for Netflix and Disney+ titles shot in Korea.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What camera formats and codecs do you support?

We support every pro camera format and recording codec now used in production. Our crews shoot RAW formats from ARRI (ARRIRAW), RED (REDCODE), and Sony (X-OCN). We also handle pro compressed codecs like Apple ProRes (422 HQ through 4444 XQ), Avid DNxHR, and many camera-native formats. We work in HD through 8K, and frame rates from standard 24/25fps up to high-speed 120fps and beyond. Delivery comes in DCI, UHD, or broadcast specs.

Can you match specific looks or previous productions?

Yes. Our skilled cinematographers often match the set visual styles from your past episodes, existing footage, or reference shoots. We study the technical traits of your reference material to recreate the look you want. That review covers lighting ratios, color palette, lens traits, and camera movement style. For series work that needs a steady look, our team logs all camera settings, lens choices, lighting methods, and color science calls, so scenes match cleanly from one to the next.

Do you provide camera operators or just equipment?

We give complete camera departments, not just gear rental. Each project gets a full camera team. That team runs from directors of photography who shape your overall visual style, to camera operators who handle specific shots, to 1st ACs who manage focus and camera prep. We source gear through our links with Seoul-based rental houses. Our crews then bring the skill to unlock all that technology can do.

How do Korean power requirements affect camera packages?

We turn South Korea's 230V power system to your advantage. Most cinema cameras and accessories run worldwide on auto-switching power supplies that need no changes. The higher voltage means faster charging and more power on hand. For shoots that bring global gear, our team supplies Type E plug adapters. We also set up power that handles many gear specs safely across your production.
