Color Grading

Grading is where the emotional tone of a Korean production is finally set. Our suites are built around DaVinci Resolve Studio and FilmLight Baselight. There our colorists shape contrast, palette, and skin tone to serve the director's story. That might mean the muted, rain-soaked greens of today's Korean thrillers, the rich period palettes of recent streaming dramas, or the clean, high-key look of K-beauty and consumer-electronics commercials. Reference passes are built on hero scenes first, then reviewed with the director and cinematographer. We then spread them across the whole timeline, so every shot speaks the same visual language from first frame to last.

HDR grading is handled natively on calibrated reference displays. We deliver HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and HLG, plus SDR trim passes for the regions and platforms that still need them. Remote review runs through Frame.io, ClearView Flex, and Streambox pipelines. This lets directors, agencies, and showrunners take part in real time. They can join from Seoul, Los Angeles, London, or wherever the crew is based.

For features headed to theatrical release through CGV, Lotte Cinema, or Megabox, masters are graded to DCI projection standards. For series bound for Tving, Wavve, Coupang Play, Netflix, or Disney+, grades are tuned to each platform's own encoding and tone-mapping profile. The creative intent reaches every screen intact.

The Hallyu wave has set a global bar for how Korean stories look. Audiences who found Parasite or Squid Game now expect that same finish on every export. Our colorists work to that standard, drawing on the visual grammar that directors like Bong Joon-ho and Park Chan-wook helped define. We build looks with real intent, not stock presets. A nighttime Hongdae chase, a quiet Bukchon hanok interior, or a stark DMZ exterior each gets a palette tuned to the moment and the camera that shot it.

Korea's many shooting locations push us to plan grades for continuity across long shoots. A drama might cover Gangnam towers, the East Sea coast, Jeju Island, and a Paju studio build in a single season. Our team carries one master look across all of it while still letting each place breathe. We grade for the cool steel of a business district and the warm timber of a folk village without breaking the show's signature. Power windows, tracked mattes, and shot-to-shot matching hold the look steady from episode to episode.

We grade for every delivery target in one managed pipeline, so the creative pass is built once and trimmed many ways. From the master grade we derive cinema, broadcast, and streaming versions on the same colour science. SDR trims are checked against the source HDR, so nothing shifts in tone. We hand the finished grades to the conform and QC stage with full CDL and node data attached. That clean handoff means the look the director approved survives ingest at any Korean network or global platform.
