Music Composition & Scoring
Original music that elevates storytelling through emotional resonance, thematic development, and unforgettable melodies that define your production.
Music composition and scoring build original works that match a production's emotional arc, pacing, and themes. Composers work with directors to shape themes, arrange the music, and record scores. The result lifts the story and gives a finished film or program its emotional signature.
We connect you with composers and scoring rooms that fit your project's musical style and budget. Our team sets up the creative work between composer and director. From there we manage demo reviews, recording sessions, and final delivery, so the score strengthens every moment of your story.

Original scoring with Korea's leading film composers
Music composition and scoring in South Korea draws on a generation of composers who have defined today's Korean cinema worldwide. Jung Jae-il wrote the scores for Parasite and Squid Game that crossed into the global canon. Mowg shaped the textural work for Park Chan-wook on The Handmaiden, while Cho Young-wuk has a long partnership with Park. Lee Byung-hoon and a wider pool of orchestral, electronic, and hybrid writers also work out of Seoul.
Our team helps producers find the right composer for the project's tone and budget. We then set up the creative work through spotting, theme development, picture lock, and final delivery. Recording capacity scales from solo instruments and small chamber ensembles all the way up to a full orchestral session. These run at the Korean Film Archive's symphony stages or CJ Powercast's scoring stage. That room has tracked many of the major Korean theatrical scores in recent years.
The composition process opens with a creative meeting and a spotting pass against the latest cut. This sets where music should appear, what it needs to do for the story, and the instruments that fit the project. Composers build main themes for approval before scoring each cue, and they share works-in-progress at agreed milestones. Directors can then shape the music while there is still time to revise, and the recording schedule stays intact.
Some budgets won't carry a full orchestra. In those cases, a hybrid mix of live soloists and high-end virtual instruments delivers convincing scale. For shoots that can fund live tracking, Korean session players move easily between classical, modern, and traditional Korean instruments. Standard agreements transfer full ownership of the original compositions to the client. That covers publishing and mechanical rights. We deliver the cue sheet and royalty sign-up records with the final mixed stems.
Live scoring follows a clear recording pipeline. The composer locks cues to picture, then the orchestra or ensemble tracks to a click and a guide cut on a calibrated scoring stage. We record sections in passes, capture room and close mics, and keep a spill-controlled signal so the score mix engineer has full control later. Each cue is bounced against the latest edit, which lets the director sign off on the recorded take before the players are released and the stage time closes.
The score is delivered ready to drop into the final mix. We supply mixed music stems split by section, plus a stereo and a surround version where the release needs it, so the score sits inside the Atmos or 5.1 mix on the dub stage. For broadcast on KBS, MBC, SBS, or JTBC and for streaming originals, the music carries inside the M&E pass for foreign-language versions. Cue sheets, royalty paperwork, and the recorded session are archived in-country for any later re-cut or sequel.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the composition process work?
We start with a spotting session to mark where music should appear and to set the creative direction. Our composers then build themes for your approval before scoring each cue. Throughout, we share works-in-progress and fold in your feedback so the music fully serves your vision.
Can you work with a limited budget?
Yes, we offer flexible options for many budgets. That might mean smaller ensemble arrangements, smart use of virtual instruments, or a hybrid mix of live and sampled elements. We'll talk through your budget upfront and propose the best way to lift production value.
Do we own the music rights?
In most cases, yes. Our standard agreements transfer full ownership of the original compositions to you. That includes all publishing and mechanical rights. We'll spell out the rights clearly in our contract. We also supply every record you need for music cue sheets and royalty sign-ups.
Can you incorporate live musicians?
Absolutely. We work with pro session musicians and can set up recording sessions of any size, from solo instruments through to a full orchestra. Live recording adds real human expression that lifts a score in a big way. We'll recommend the right approach based on your musical needs and budget.
