Location sound in Korea is shaped by the land as much as by the shoot calendar. Han River wind cuts through exterior dialogue scenes, and the narrow stone-walled streets of Bukchon hanok village throw back a short slap. Itaewon and Gangnam are thick with street traffic, while Namsan Mountain sites carry steep echo. Coastal work in Busan and Jeju runs into surf and offshore breeze.

Our production sound mixers carry kit tuned for those conditions. We run Sound Devices 833 and 888 multitrack recorders, with Sennheiser MKH416 short shotguns as standard and Cinela Pianissimo blimps for wind. For tighter interior pickup, we use the Sanken CS-3e and Schoeps CMIT 5U. Cart and bag rigs are matched to format, from K-drama series coverage at The DMC hub and Paju Studio Cube to documentary chasers running run-and-gun through the markets of Myeongdong and Namdaemun.

We scale crews to how busy a scene is. A typical Korean drama or feature team runs a mixer, boom ops, and a utility sound tech, while documentary work folds down to a one- or two-person rig. Wireless channel counts grow through Lectrosonics SRc and Wisycom MCR54 receivers, and we clear frequency planning against KCC and MSIT allocations in the 470-698 MHz band.

We deliver sound reports nightly in Korean and English, with timecode and metadata aligned to the editor's NLE and the chosen Korean post house, which is typically Live Tone Studio, Sound Tribe Korea, Mediaslash, Tigertail Sound, or CJ Powercast. Our crews are fully insured under Korean production liability cover and work often on K-content cash rebates-eligible shoots across Seoul, Busan, Incheon, and the wider production network.
