Feature Film Production

For two decades, South Korea has been one of the world's steadiest engines of festival and theatrical feature films. Bong Joon-ho's Parasite and the films of Park Chan-wook show that range. Behind them, the steady output of CJ ENM and Lotte Cinema has built a production base that global features can plug into directly. The Hallyu wave keeps Korean cinema in front of global audiences and distributors.

We give full-service support for studio-backed and indie features shooting in Korea. Our crews draw on KOFIC-registered cinematographers, gaffers, key grips and department heads with global co-credits. They shoot on ARRI Alexa Mini, Sony Venice and RED Raptor packages from the major Seoul rental houses. Our team runs production from script breakdown through wrap. That covers crew assembly through the Paju and Namyangju studio communities, and location services across Seoul, Busan, Jeju and the Gangwon mountain regions.

The KOFIC incentive gives a cash rebate on qualifying Korean spend for global shoots. We guide producers through who qualifies, how to apply, and how to report to KOFIC, with budgets in Korean Won and 10 percent VAT accounted for. Global co-productions under bilateral treaties are managed from start to finish. That means partner introductions to Korean producers, treaty compliance records, and the local admin work that official co-production status needs.

Crew scaling runs from indie units of twenty up to major studio shoots needing 150-plus crew. We plan it fully through Korean guilds and the production unions where relevant. Location access reaches Joseon-era palaces and Buddhist temples cleared with the Korea Heritage Service, plus hanok villages and the Busan port and beach districts. It also covers Jeju's volcanic coastline, the DMZ corridor through the Ministry of National Defense, and the Seoul skyline around Lotte World Tower. We coordinate drone work with MOLIT.

Scheduling weighs Korea's sharp seasons. Cherry-blossom spring and bright autumn are the prized windows for exterior and heritage days, so they book out fast. We plan cover sets for the summer monsoon and the deep winter, and stage backlot work at Paju Studio Cube and Art Service Studios when weather closes the location units. Permits clear through the Seoul Film Commission, the Busan Film Commission and the district offices.

Post-production runs through Korean facilities built for global DCP, streaming and broadcast specs. VFX houses such as Mofac Studios and Digital Idea handle digital builds, while sound stages mix to Dolby Atmos and grade to Dolby Vision. They deliver festival-ready finishing for premieres at Cannes, Venice, Toronto and the Busan International Film Festival. Our team manages the full handoff so the final master meets each distributor's exact delivery requirements.
